While the use of cannabidiol (CBD) is growing in popularity, the industry is still largely unregulated. This leads to a lot of confusion and conflicting advice around the subject of dosage. One of the most common questions we are asked is “How much CBD oil should I take?”
Currently, there are no standard dosing protocols for CBD in the United States, so it is up to the consumer to perform their own research and determine a dose that is right for them. It is expected that within the next few years, a universal RDA (recommended daily allowance) will be established under the umbrella of the FDA. Until then, what we offer here is a practical guide.
Every person is different and what works for one person may not work for another. Weight, genetics, metabolism, and an individual’s unique endocannabinoid system are all factors that come into play with any nutritional supplement.
•Begin with the lowest recommended dose listed on the product label. This will give you a chance to adjust to the taste and consistency, and observe any side effects. CBD is generally well-tolerated and has a high safety profile, but some people have had minor side effects like nausea and diarrhea. However, these are in very rare instances.
•Break up your dose during the day. Instead of one large treatment in the morning, try taking half in the morning and half in the evening. You may even want to spread your dosage of CBD out to several times a day.
•Experiment with the same dosage for a few days. Observe how you are feeling. If you are not getting any relief, increase the amount until your symptoms improve. If your symptoms get worse, decrease the dose. It may take several days to a few weeks to find your sweet spot with CBD.
•Be patient. It may take time for CBD to build up in your system before you see any noticeable changes in your condition.
•Consult with a qualified medical practitioner who has experience working with patients with similar medical conditions. They may be able to further assist you in finding your proper dosage. •Remember that while there are so many benefits of CBD, there are also many different ways of using it. Using sublingual oil CBD, taking CBD edibles, or applying CBD topicals may necessitate higher doses or lower doses than what is suggested in this article. For the purpose of consistency, we are speaking mainly of ingestibles.
